February 14-23 - Farce

‘There Goes the Bride’ by John Chapman and Ray Cooney

Timothy Westerby is overworked, underpaid and
stressed out – and his daughter Judy is getting
married in what he considers an overly lavish and
expensive ceremony. Ripe for a nervous breakdown,
he finally has one on the morning of the wedding,
when he hits his head and meets Polly, a gorgeous
young woman who finds him irresistible. Trouble is,
Polly is just a hallucination! Convinced that Polly is
real, Timothy delights in welcoming the alluring guest
to Judy’s wedding. Meanwhile, he and his wife, Ursula
– who is less than thrilled over Timothy’s obsession
with Polly – contend with a host of complications and
a barrage of colorful guests.

October 17-26 - Mystery

‘Murder on the Rerun’ by Fred Carmichael

Takes a different approach to mystery as a ghost tries
to find out who murdered her in a witty, sophisticated,
yet suspenseful look at the upper crust of Hollywood.
The curtain rises to find Jane, Oscar winning screen
writer, dead at the bottom of the stairs in a Vermont
ski lodge. Her four friends and husband are saying she
fell.”I was pushed!” she says as her ghost rises. Aided
by Kitty, a rather wanton adviser from “up there”, Jane
is brought ahead to the present, three years after the
murder, where the same group is gathered to figure
out who killed her. The five suspects join together to
keep the possible murder quiet for reasons of their own
but their relationship busts apart with their mutual
distrust.

‘Miracle on 34th Street’ Adapted by Mountain Community Theatre from the novel by Valentine Davies

By chance, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement
home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris
unleashes waves of good will with Macy’s
customers and the commercial world of New York
City by referring parents to other stores to find
exactly the toy their child has asked for. Seen as
deluded and dangerous by Macy’s vocational
counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to
Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a
court competency hearing. Especially at stake is
one little girl’s belief in Santa. In a dramatic
decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa,
allowing Susan and countless other children to
experience the joy of childhood fantasy.
